Why Wait for Weight?

 In society and throughout our lives there are so many messages that we receive about body and weight that create this complex rule book of who can do what and when, which in turn significantly impacts the actions people take. In particular people delay or avoid doing certain things or putting themselves out there for the world to see. I want to start asking, what if these rules aren’t correct, don’t make sense, or don’t even matter? What if there are ways to be who you want to be, regardless of what your body looks like or does? What kind of potential can unleash on the world as we break down these rules, not only for ourselves but for others? 

Dr. Sarah Pegrum

Sarah is a psychologist, who did her training in Australia, where she was first introduced to ACT way back in 2007. She then moved to the opposite side of the world (literally) to Newfoundland, Canada. She initially was practicing in an eating disorder treatment centre, as her PhD was on anorexia nervosa. She have since moved into private practice where she continues to see people with eating and body image struggles, but also see people who struggle with trauma, and anxiety disorders.
